Extricom Secures $12 Million Series C Financing

Extricom, the designer and manufacturer of the award-winning Interference-Free™ Wireless LAN System, recently announced the completion of its Series C round of $12 Million. Led by Belden, with participation from existing investors including Motorola Ventures, Magnum Communications Fund, and Vertex Venture Capital, the new investment will support Extricom’s continued global expansion and strengthen the company’s sales and customer support efforts through a growing network of partners and resellers.

As evidenced by Extricom’s recent technology partnership with Belden and design wins worldwide, next-generation WLAN deployments are accelerating, as enterprises increasingly seek to truly “cut the cord” for voice, video, and data communications. Extricom has established itself as a leader in the next generation of enterprise Wi-Fi, with an infrastructure solution designed to concurrently support real-time, mobile applications such as voice over WLAN (VoWLAN).

“This is an exciting time in the evolution of WLAN. We’re orchestrating a dramatic shift in enterprise adoption, from the many shortcomings of traditional ‘cell planning’ approaches to our next-generation ‘channel blanket’ topology, which guarantees predictable levels of high performance service for all users,” said Gideon Rottem, CEO and founder of Extricom. “We are leading the charge in WLAN technology and are honored by the strong vote of confidence from our investors to bring our vision to market.”

Extricom’s patented Interference-Free™ WLAN system represents the next generation of enterprise Wi-Fi, with a fundamental shift in architecture from “cell-planning” to a “channel blanket” topology. The technology eliminates the co-channel interference that plagues traditional WLAN systems, to deliver seamless and zero-latency mobility, robust, ‘wire-like’ client connections, and the ability to design for a guaranteed and predictable level of service for all users. All this, without the iterative and costly RF cell-planning of traditional solutions. The result is a high-performance yet simple solution for powering the enterprise triple play of data, voice (VoWLAN), and video.

“Extricom is carrying the flag for next-generation WLAN through its Interference-Free system and seizing that opportunity,” said John Stroup, President and CEO of Belden. “Our investment represents both an endorsement of Extricom’s vision and a significant milestone in Belden’s wireless strategy to expand our core offerings through the use of Extricom’s WLAN technology.”
