Kapow Technologies Secures $11.6 Million in Series C Financing
Kapow Technologies, the expert in harvesting mash able public and private web intelligence with software that turns the web into the world’s largest database, announced recently that it has signed definitive documents to complete a Series C financing round of $11.6 million. Closing is expected to occur by March 31. New investors include Steamboat Ventures, a venture capital firm affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, and Morgan Stanley’s Strategic Investments Group. Previous investors Kennet Partners and NorthCap Partners also participated in the round.
The company further announced that the new funds will enable the company to significantly enhance its software as a service (SaaS) platform and expand its global sales operations in the media, financial services, manufacturing, transportation and government sectors where the company has established a leadership position.
“The advancement of mashup technologies has resulted in new opportunities for data collection, integration and delivery by creating a more useful and valuable resource for businesses and the consumers they serve,” said Beau Laskey, managing director of Steamboat Ventures, and newest Board member of Kapow Technologies. “Because Kapow Technologies was first to market with one of the key pieces of technology to create mashups in enterprises, it has achieved hundreds of successful use cases among world’s largest companies and the most technically savvy Web 2.0 firms.”
“Kapow Technologies is helping transform the way Wall Street collects and repurposes information on the Web for use in new intelligent applications,” said Gary Offner, Executive Director at Morgan Stanley’s Strategic Investments Group. “We believe that the Kapow Mashup Server has many valuable uses within Morgan Stanley and the financial services industry. As a new investor and licensor of Kapow’s software, we look forward to helping the company fulfill its potential.”
Contributing to the enterprise mash up and web intelligence trends, Kapow Technologies is the only company that provides enterprise-class server software that enables the harvesting of mashable public and private web intelligence. “Kapow Technologies continues to execute on all cylinders,” said Javier Rojas, managing director of Kennet Partners, which led the company’s Series-B funding round. “The company entered the U.S. market in 2005, and has quickly become a leader in Enterprise 2.0 software. We look forward to continued growth.”
