Venture Capital Firm Backs Ultra Wideband; General Partner and Linksys Co-Founder Victor Tsao to Advise the Innovative Wireless Supplier

Tzero Technologies, the leading innovator in ultra wideband wireless technology, recently announced that Miven Venture Partners has made a strategic investment in the company. This investment, which is an extension of the Tzero’s Series B private equity funding round, is the ninth strategic investment by Miven, and will be used to expand business opportunities and bring new products to market. The company also announced that Victor Tsao, the founding general partner of Miven Venture Partners, Linksys co-founder and senior vice president of Cisco Systems, will act as an advisor to the company. Miven Venture Partners joins existing investors in Tzero including August Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, OVP, USVP and VentureTech Alliance.

”Consumer electronics manufacturers want UWB because it provides the bandwidth necessary for wireless distribution of high-definition video; service providers want UWB as a critical component in their IPTV and video on demand solutions; and consumers need UWB because it eliminates the need to run expensive and cumbersome cables to their beautiful flat panel TVs,” said Victor Tsao, founding general partner of Miven Venture Partners.

“Ultra wideband is the future of wireless communications and only Tzero has a market-ready solution,” said Jawad Ansari, founding general partner of Miven Venture Partners.

Tzero is the leading supplier of UWB (Ultra WideBand) solutions including those for wireless video applications. The company’s advanced technology can connect a range of A/V components – displays, set-top boxes, digital video recorders, media center PCs, residential gateways and more – wirelessly while delivering the same quality as wired products. Unlike proprietary offerings, Tzero’s platform is based on standards from the WiMedia Alliance and is guaranteed to coexist with other WiMedia-compliant devices. It’s also immune to interference from other wireless networks and household appliances for outstanding quality of service.

“Miven’s investment will allow us to continue building market momentum for ultra wideband and Tzero solutions,” said Mike Gulett, president and CEO of Tzero. “In addition, Victor Tsao brings a broad range of experience to the company, having grown Linksys from startup to wireless networking powerhouse. His advice and counsel will be invaluable as we drive to accelerate our growth and market leadership.”

The company’s advanced ultra wideband technology can connect a range of A/V components – displays, set-top boxes, digital video recorders and more – without cabling throughout the home. Founded in 2003, Tzero is backed by tier-one venture partners, including August Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Miven Venture Partners, OVP, USVP and VentureTech Alliance.
