    January 1st, 2006 No comments

LightSand® Communications, Inc., a company pioneering SAN connectivity solutions, which delivers affordable, easy-to-use Fiber Channel connectivity, making it practical for small and medium businesses and organizations to deploy low-cost servers and storage arrays in a storage area network (SAN) environment. Installation of a storage area network, utilizing the product for reliable connectivity, enables small and medium-sized businesses to centrally manage data, utilize high-speed tape backup, and enjoy reduced storage costs through more efficient, shared utilization of disk storage resources.

LightSand® Communications, Inc. announced a few days ago that it has raised nearly US$ 7 million to support its worldwide market expansion. Iris Capital leads the investment round with the participation of LC Capital. They join current VC’s: Barrings Private Equity Partners Asia, Concord Ventures, Fremont Ventures, Genesis Partners and JPMorgan Fleming on the Board of Directors.

LightSand is a global leader in the development and delivery of SAN connectivity products, which interconnect multiple SANs regardless of physical proximity or vendor disparity. The company’s SAN extension gateways work within the data center and over MAN/WAN networks to interconnect SANs over distance using IP, SONET/SDH, DWDM, and dedicated fiber networks. These extension capabilities provide an ideal platform for deploying business continuance, disaster recovery, centralized backup, enterprise resource sharing, remote mirroring and other critical business applications.
